ISO 50001 Timeline
ISO 50001 is under development by the International Standards Organization. Its development is based upon the already published ANSI 2000:2008 Management System for Energy.
ISO 50001 is on a "fast track" development schedule, meaning that it will be completed in three years rather than the more typical five. The US Department of Energy was one of the primary motivators for the development of ISO 50001, and is utilizing the services of the Lawrence Berkeley Lab and Georgia Tech.
As of January 2010, the Committee Draft is being circulated amongst committee members for comment and revision. The top-level schedule is as follows:
| Timeframe | Task |
|---|---|
| Q1 2010 | Comments due from committee members |
| Q2-Q3 2010 | Translate, revise, and submit the draft for broader circulation. |
| October 2010 | Committee working meeting |
| Q1-Q2 2011 | Revised Committee Draft circulated |
| Q3 2011 | Finalize document |
| Q4 2011 | Publish document |
