Integrated Renewable Energy Chosen for Energy Management System Pilot Program

October 12, 2009
For Immediate Release

SEATTLE, WA - Integrated Renewable Energy announces that it has been selected as one of the consulting firms to support the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliances' (NEEA) Energy Management System Pilot Program.

NEEA received a grant from the US Department of Energy to implement a pilot program to institute energy management systems at Northwest firms. As called out in the soon-to-be-released ISO 50001 standards, Energy Management Systems enable a company to proactively control its energy usage, and to realize energy cost savings by managing energy consumption as part of routine business operations. An Energy Management System also positions a firm to efficiently respond to imminent carbon emissions caps and energy efficiency regulations.

Integrated Renewable Energy will serve as consultant to help one of the participating firms set appropriate energy savings goals, identify relevant monitoring parameters, develop energy reduction strategies, and integrate energy management into daily operations.

The 18 month contract, which begins in October 2009, will result in Integrated Renewable Energy becoming one of the first firms in the nation to be recognized as a Certified Energy Practitioner (CEP) in accordance with Department of Energy guidelines.

Integrated Renewable Energy also announces that it intends to roll out a postpilot program for interested firms in January 2010. This program will lag the pilot by four months, but will enable non-pilot firms to set up ISO 50001 compliant Energy Management Systems and reap energy cost savings as early as possible.
